Discord giveaway bots
A giveaway bot runs the draw for you: it collects entries, checks who is allowed in, picks winners at the set time and announces them.

How a giveaway bot works
Older giveaway bots take entries through a reaction, usually 🎉. It is simple, but the bot only learns who entered at the end, when it fetches every reaction, so it cannot turn away someone without the required role until the draw. Anyone with Manage Messages can also wipe the reactions. A button entry fixes both: the bot checks requirements the moment someone clicks, saves the entry and tells them privately if they are not eligible.
The timer matters more than it looks. A giveaway that only lives in the bot's memory vanishes when the bot restarts, and hosted bots restart for updates and crashes. A reliable bot saves the end time and the entries, then on startup finishes any giveaway that ended while it was offline. The countdown itself can be a Discord timestamp, which shows "ends in 2 hours" in each member's own time zone.
A reroll picks a new winner from the same entries, leaving out the old one, for when a winner never claims the prize. You set the prize, duration, winner count and requirements in plain words, and Discord Bot Creator builds and hosts the bot.
What it usually does
- Starts giveaways with a prize, duration and number of winners
- Takes entries through a button and checks role requirements on the spot
- Picks winners at random when the timer ends and pings them
- Rerolls a winner who does not claim the prize
- Finishes giveaways that ended while the bot was offline
- Lists active giveaways and lets staff end one early
Permissions and intents it needs
Give a bot only what it uses. These are the permissions a typical giveaway bot asks for in its invite link, and why.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| View Channels | Sees the channel where giveaways run. |
| Send Messages | Posts the giveaway and announces winners. |
| Embed Links | Shows the prize, end time and entry count as an embed. |
| Read Message History | Fetches the giveaway message again to update it or count reactions. |
| Add Reactions | Only for reaction-style entries, where the bot adds the 🎉 for members to click. |
Privileged intents
None needed for a typical giveaway bot.
None needed. Button entries arrive with the member's roles attached, and the users behind reaction entries can be fetched without a privileged intent.
Giveaway bots built here
Real bots made by describing them, running in Discord servers now.
No giveaway bots are listed yet. Bots appear here once they have been online for three days and joined a server. Yours could be the first.
Describe yours like this
Name the channels, roles and commands you want. The more specific the description, the less you need to change afterwards.
Set up a giveaway bot. Staff with the @Events role can run /giveaway start with a prize, duration and winner count, and members enter with a button in #giveaways. Only members with the @Level 5 role can enter, and if a winner doesn't claim within 24 hours staff can /reroll.
Questions about giveaway bots
How do Discord giveaway bots pick winners?
When the timer ends, the bot takes the list of valid entries and draws the number of winners you set at random, without repeats. It then edits the giveaway message to show the result and pings the winners. A fair bot keeps the entry list afterwards, so staff can check who was in the draw if someone questions it.
What does reroll mean on a giveaway?
Reroll draws a new winner from the same entries after the giveaway has ended, skipping the people who already won. Staff use it when a winner never claims the prize, has left the server or turns out to be an alt account. The bot needs the saved entry list for this, which is one more reason to store entries instead of relying on reactions.
Can I require a role to enter a giveaway?
Yes. With button entries the bot checks the member's roles when they click and replies privately if they do not qualify. Common requirements are a level role, the server booster role, or having been in the server for a set number of days. With reaction entries the same check only happens at the draw.
What happens to a giveaway if the bot restarts?
It depends on how the bot stores it. If the end time and entries are saved, the bot sets the timer again on startup and ends any giveaway that finished while it was down. If they only exist in memory, the giveaway is lost. Ask for saved giveaways when you describe the bot.

Write it in a sentence or two. You see the plan before anything is built, and your first bot runs free for 7 days.
